SMU Libraries embarked on its ‘Culture of Assessment’ journey in 2013, geared towards demonstrating fiscal accountability and driving a higher degree of stakeholder engagement. With more than 80% of library staff trained in the use of Lean Six Sigma for business process improvements, it was only natural that the library started putting in place procedures and systems to continuously assess and improve services. For effective decision making, the challenge lies in the normalization, consolidation and visualization of data from the varied library services into a single coherent platform that could be used for making decisions that are timely.
This presentation will share some of SMU Libraries’ experience in implementing a QlikView based dashboard for the visualization of operational data. It will discuss some of the challenges encountered in the following areas:
