Abstract

More than just a committee!

Team NLS8 takes symposium planning seriously! Ten LIS new graduates and students have wholeheartedly plunged into the new experience of major event planning. We manage all aspects of our preparation and planning – programming, communications, marketing, sponsorship, satellite events, etc online. We collaborate within our committee and our networks, we connect and grow our audience with the LIS/GLAMR community and we create content to highlight and promote our event, industry and Team NLS8.

More than just a poster!

We’re going to use augmented reality to add an interactive element to our poster presentation and give ALIA Online 2017 delegates more than just a traditional poster experience! Augmented reality apps show the camera picture on your devices' screen just like when you go to take a photo. But view a picture or poster with augmented reality content and it comes to life on the screen - the app adds extra content as if it were actually there in the world around you.

What will we share?

Each digital tool was chosen to meet the needs of Team NLS8 and our online workplace. Information on the purpose of the digital tool, its capabilities, benefits and usage statistics will be discussed. We will also share we have learnt by implementing these digital tools for major event planning such as, which tools have been the most useful and effective, which tools were user-friendly including feedback from our team members via AR and how they have dictated workflow.

How will we share?

The poster itself will showcase the online tools Team NLS8 is using to collaborate, connect and create online. More information will appear when the delegate utilizes the AR app on their device or one provided by us.
