Abstract

In this interconnected age the digitisation of content is enabling truly astounding research in the humanities to flourish. The partnership between humanities scholars and galleries, libraries, art museums and museums has never been stronger – transforming research and liberating data from our collections.

In this session three eminent digital humanists will speak about developments in the digital humanities with which they are involved:

  • Professor Linda Barwick, University of Sydney, will focus on developments in the study of Australian Indigenous and immigrant musics and in the digital humanities (with particular reference to Paradisec)

  • Ingrid Mason, Development Strategist, AARNET, will speak on amazing directions emerging for GLAM  (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) data in the field of digital humanities research including the big challenges

  • Dr Jason Ensor, Digital Humanities Research Group, Western Sydney University, will talk about the development and challenges of digital humanities projects with reference to his work at the university.
